SEATTLE – A teen was shot and killed while ghost hunting with friends in a South Seattle park that has a reputation for being haunted.
Officers and medics responded to the scene, in Martha Washington Park, at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday after witnesses began calling 911 to report that a 17-year-old boy had been shot multiple times.
After arriving at the park, first responders found the teen in a wooded area suffering from three gunshot wounds, said Detective Patrick Michaud of the Seattle police.
Witnesses told officers the teen was with a group of friends in a dark, wooded area of the park searching for ghosts, when shots were fired from outside the woods, striking the teen.
Investigators aren’t sure yet whether the ghost hunters were targeted or just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
No suspect description was immediately available.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Seattle police.
